Chemical Bank Cares Day was on 10.12.15 and we had 5 great employees that volunteered with us! They got a lot of work done...everything from picking up baked goods at the grocery store to re-packing cookies to bagging fresh green beans to carrying groceries out for clients. It was a very productive day. Thank you for serving with us! Thank you to Chemical Bank for caring for our community!
Last week Thursday was a busy day here at the pantry assembling soup mix packets. First we had a great group of girls, the 7th grade girls basketball team from Byron Center Christian School, come after school to help us out. They wanted to finish their season doing something fun together, so they came and assembled almost 500 packets! They had a lot of energy and were a lot of fun to work with!
Later that evening, a small group from CrossPointe Community Church in Hudsonville came to help out. They put together abou 1000 packets! They did an awesome job and had a good time together. We now will have plenty of soup mix to distribute to our clients and also to send down to a mission in Kentucky that we support. We are so thankful that groups are so willing to work with us to help us with our soup mix ministry!
A great group of Girl Scouts came and helped sort through mountains of product that we have at our warehouse on Thursday night. These products included medications, misc. home goods, and all sorts of random items. The girls had a lot of fun and it was awesome to see them having fun while getting a lot of work done and being a great help to us.
These young ladies are seniors at Byron Center High School and have been in Scouts together since kindergarten! Thanks so much for volunteering with us, we appreciate it!
Journey, the youth group from 1st Reformed Church in Byron Center, came in today to help us out. They are helping different organizations in the community this week and today, they bagged pasta for us! The group was also able to tour our facility and hear the story of how we started. Thanks so much for serving with us today!!!
On May 10, the USPS had their annual Postal Food Drive. We had a great crew of volunteers waiting for the mail trucks to drop off the food donations on their way back from their routes. We immediately sorted the food donations and got them shelf ready. We are grateful to our volunteers and the USPS for making this day a success!
