For inclement weather, please call the Center to see if we are open.

The BCAC will be closed on all major holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas.

A Tale of Two Churches


Imagine two churches across the street from each other. Both realize that many people in their congregations and community are struggling with economic problems to a degree that they sometimes have trouble feeding their families. Both churches decide to set up food pantries to help. But they decide to run those pantries in different ways.

We are a Qualified Food Bank


Your donation to the "Buist Community Assistance Center" is not only tax deductible, but is also eligible for the 50% State of Michigan Tax Credit for Food Banks. This means if you make a donation up to $400 ($200 maximum for single filers), you will receive 50% of it back when you file your state taxes.

Why was it started?


The Buist Foundation had been sponsoring a mobile food pantry from Second Harvest Gleaners (now Feeding America) once a month during the year of 2007 and in early 2008. It was attracting approximately 150 families each month at which we would give out 10,000 pounds of food.

Community Supper


BCAC partners with 1st Reformed Church of Byron Center to provide a community supper each month at the ROCK. Our team of chefs selects a different menu each month. Volunteers from the community help with setup, serving and cleanup.
